This is a vintage French enamel poivre (pepper) jar. These were popular during the 1920s-1930s and were part of a larger canister set for kitchen sundries like coffee, sugar, etc. The rust and wear is typical with enamelware of this age. Perfect size for storing matches, q-tips, toothpicks, etc. 3" diameter x 4.5" tall (top of lid)
